Questions & answers
The short answers to what people ask most. Can't find yours? Email us - a real person replies.
What is Dolecular?
A calm organizer for your household: reminders, a calendar built around your week, a weekly grocery list and notes, all shared with the people you live with. You can type things in, or just say them.
It runs in your browser and installs to your phone's home screen like an app. An Android app is in the works.
How does voice work, and what can I say?
Hold the microphone button and talk the way you normally would, then let go. For example: "Remind me to call the dentist Tuesday, and we're out of milk and eggs." Dolecular turns that into a reminder and two grocery items, and you can see, edit or delete them straight away.
If it isn't sure what you meant, it asks a quick question instead of guessing. Besides adding things, you can also say "mark the milk as bought," "move the dentist to Friday," "give the trash to Sam," "make the milk 3 litres," "rename the milk to oat milk," or "take the tacos off the meal plan." Something you delete by voice goes to Recently deleted (it stays there for 30 days) and the voice bubble shows an Undo button for a few seconds. Recipes, and clearing a whole list at once, stay a job for the app itself. It understands English and French.
Voice is off until you turn it on in Settings, it's for people 18 and over, and it's available to family members who can add things (Editors and Admins).
Is my voice recorded?
Dolecular never receives or stores your audio. Your phone or browser's own speech recognition turns your voice into text first - depending on the device, that recognizer is run by Google or Apple, under their own terms.
Only the text goes on to Google's Gemini service, which works out what you meant, and Google's paid-service terms mean it doesn't use it to train its models. We keep the text of what you said - not the audio - for up to 90 days to fix what isn't working, then it's cleared automatically. The Privacy Policy has the full detail.
How do I add my family, and what can each person do?
Family Admins do this: open the Family page and choose "Invite someone". Pick a role, then send them the invite link. It works for 7 days; if it runs out, just make a new one.
- Viewer - can see the household's reminders, groceries and notes.
- Editor - can also add and change things, including by voice.
- Admin - can also invite people and manage who's in the family and their roles.
Kids without a phone can be added as a profile - just a name, no account - so you can give them their own tasks.
Is it really free? What happens after the beta?
Yes. During the beta, Dolecular is free for your whole household - full access, no credit card, no trial countdown.
Join during the beta and you lock in the lowest price we'll ever charge, even after the beta ends. We haven't set the price yet, we don't collect payment details today, and you won't be charged for anything without agreeing to it first.
Which languages does it speak?
English and French, throughout the app and on this website. Switch any time in Settings; voice follows the language you've chosen.
Why aren't my reminders showing up?
Reminders need notifications turned on for the device. Open Settings in Dolecular and check "Push notifications" - if it says it's off, tap Enable, or allow notifications for Dolecular in your phone or browser settings.
On an iPhone, notifications only work once Dolecular has been added to your home screen (Share, then "Add to Home Screen"). Still nothing? Tell us what device you're on and we'll dig in.
Who can see what I write?
The people in your family can see what's shared in it, along with each other's name, email and role. Nobody outside your family can.
The Dolecular team looks after accounts through a private admin page that shows account details and counts - never what your reminders, notes or groceries say, or what you said to voice. The exception is feedback you choose to send us from Settings: you wrote that for us to read.
How do I delete my account, or get a copy of my data?
Both are in Settings, under "Your data". "Download a copy" gives you everything we hold about you in one file. "Delete your account" removes your account and your personal data right away - there's no waiting period.
Anything you added to a family you share with other people stays with them, no longer tied to your name, because they rely on it. The Privacy Policy explains this in full.
Can I invite a friend?
Yes - and we'd love that. In the app, open the menu and choose "Invite a friend": you get your own link and a ready-made message to send through whatever app you like. Your friend gets the same free beta.
You'll see how many people joined through your link, but never who - and we send nothing on your behalf. Your link carries a random code, not your name. Someone who joins by hand can also type your code when they sign up.
How do I reach you, or tell you what's missing?
In the app, open Settings and use "Send feedback" - it reaches us directly. Or write to support@dolecular.com. Beta testers get a reply from a real person, and what you tell us shapes what we build next.
